Weird Science (1985)

Weird Science is a classic 1985 teen science fantasy comedy written and directed by John Hughes (of The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles fame). Plot Summary Two awkward high-school nerds, Gary (Anthony Michael Hall) and Wyatt (Ilan Mitchell-Smith), fed up with being unpopular and failing to get girlfriends, use their computer (with some magical bolt of lightning) to create the "perfect woman." This results in Lisa (Kelly LeBrock), a gorgeous, superhuman, and confident woman who comes to life. Lisa sets out to transform their lives—giving them confidence, cool clothes, a Porsche, and helping them stand up to bullies—while the boys try to keep her existence secret from Wyatt's tyrannical older brother Chet (Bill Paxton). It’s a wild mix of Frankenstein, teen wish-fulfillment fantasies, and 1980s computer nerd vibes, full of slapstick, special effects, and over-the-top moments. Key Details Cast: Anthony Michael Hall, Ilan Mitchell-Smith, Kelly LeBrock, Bill Paxton, Robert Downey Jr. (in a supporting role as one of the bullies). Runtime: 94 minutes.
