Uber will partner with WhatsApp to launch messenger travel bookings in India.
The new opportunity will help attract an additional audience due to the existing WhatsApp in India database with an active audience of 500 million.
The partnership will allow Uber taxi services through the official WhatsApp chatbot. Initially, the new opportunity will be limited to the city of Lucknow, with a gradual launch in the rest of the major cities.
Passengers will no longer need to download or use the Uber app. Everything from user registration to booking a trip and receiving a receipt for a trip will be controlled in the interface of the WhatsApp chatbot, added Uber representatives.
According to the company, ordering through the Uber chatbot will be completely similar to the application of the same name. It will also display the car number, driver's name and location on the way to the place of order. Drivers will not notice the difference between orders through the application and orders in the messenger.
